The Nissan Maximas 3.5 liter double overhead cam 24-valve VQ-series V6 engine delivers an impressive 290HP and 261lb-ft of torque, an increase of 35HP and 9lb-ft of torque over the 2008 Nissan Maxima.

The fuel economy of the new Nissan Maxima is estimated at 19 miles per gallon (mpg) city, 26mpg on highway, which are similar to that of the 2008 Maxima, despite the additional horsepower. The 2009 Maxima offers two well-equipped models, the 3.5S and the 3.5SV.

The Nissan Maxima 3.5 S model includes power windows, power door locks, power moonroof, 8-way power driver seat, 4-way power passenger seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, AM/FM/CD6/MP3 audio with 8 speakers, and an available iPod interface. The Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV adds such conveniences as leather-appointed sport seats, and advanced Bose audio system with 9 speakers, HomeLink Universal Transceiver, fog lamps, and outside mirrors with integrated turn signals.
